Clinical Dental Technicians
Clinical Dental Technicians are a brand new group of registerable Dental Care Professionals. Working to the prescription of a dentist, CDTs can provide, repair, and refurbish removable appliances, and can do so without reference to a dentist for complete dentures.

Mr Peter Meeds, Clinical Dental Technician, being congratulated by the Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK) on achieving the FGDP (UK) RCS Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology. Peter was one of 80 Clinical Dental Technicians in the first cohort for the top up training run by KSS Deanery in conjunction with the University of Kent.
KSS Deanery in conjunction with the University of Kent Centre for Dentistry, has run top-up courses for CDTs with the George Brown College Diploma from Ontario Canada; to enable them to join the Register. These courses are continuing for approximately the next eighteen months.
The University of Kent is investigating the possibility of running courses for this DCP group from scratch. The University is also running some targeted lifelong learning courses for CDTs.
For further information about these specific CDT courses contact Lucy Caple on 0207 415 3676 or email lcaple@kssdeanery.ac.uk.
All CDTs in the region are welcome to attend all Deanery CPD courses on the same basis as other DCPs.
